تعود الجذور الأولى للجمعية إلى عام 1930م، حين تأسست تحت اسمها الحالي. وبعد فترة ركود امتدت لسنوات، أعيد إحياؤها في مطلع الثمانينات، وتحديدًا سنة 1983م، على يد مجموعة من تلامذة العلّامة الشيخ عبد الله الهرري (الهرري الحبشي)، الذي أصبح لاحقًا المرجع الروحي للجمعية.

الرؤساء عبر التاريخ

تولّى رئاسة الجمعية في مراحلها القديمة عدد من الشخصيات البارزة، منهم:

• الشيخ مصطفى الغلاييني
• حسين العويني (أحد رؤساء وزراء لبنان سابقًا)
• أحمد العجوز

وبعد إعادة إحياء الجمعية سنة 1983، تولى رئاستها:

• الشيخ نزار الحلبي – الذي قاد حركة التطوير والتوسّع حتى اغتياله عام 1995.

من يترأس الجمعية اليوم؟

يرأس الجمعية حاليًا:

• الشيخ حسام قراقيرة
  الذي يستمر بقيادة العمل الديني والاجتماعي والخيري، والإشراف على مؤسسات تربوية وكشفية وثقافية تابعة للجمعية داخل لبنان وخارجه.

L’Association des Projets de Bienfaisance Islamiques (APBI) est l’une des institutions religieuses et sociales les plus actives au Liban. Elle mène des activités éducatives, culturelles, caritatives et communautaires. L’association adopte la doctrine de Ahl al-Sunna wal-Jama‘a, suivant l’école théologique ash‘arite et le rite chaféite. Son discours repose sur l’équilibre, la modération et le refus de toute forme d’extrémisme.

Fondation et évolution

L’association fut fondée pour la première fois en 1930. Après une longue période de stagnation, elle fut relancée en 1983 par un groupe de disciples du savant Cheikh Abdallah al-Harari, qui devint plus tard son guide spirituel.
